The benefit of OCT technology is being able to look beneath the surface of some retinal areas to detect changes too small to be seen by other imaging methods. Many retinal problems such as macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, and other diseases show changes that start below the visible surface of the retina.

We can also use this OCT imaging technology on other parts of the eye including the Optic nerve in assessing nerve damage (which includes Glaucoma).

With a small adjustment, the OCT can image portions of the anterior segment of the eye to measure the ‘anterior chamber angle’ and corneal thickness to name two.

With the records created, we can monitor minute changes by checking the progress of your ocular health over time.
